- How do you improve clients’ lives?
I improve clients’ lives by making them more relaxed about what we talk about. I can remember a few years ago a young father sitting in my office talking about retirement and sending his three kids to college and providing for them. As he talked you could see him tense up and become visibly uncomfortable visibly squirming in his chair.
Our conversations throughout the financial planning process and helping with the steps he could take today I watched him relax. Now he can enjoy his family time instead of constantly worrying about the future.
- Why can people trust you?
Tikkun Olam, a concept in Jewish tradition, means "repairing the world" or "making the world a better place." It's the idea that we each have a responsibility to act in ways that bring positive change to the world, improve lives, and promote justice and kindness.
When you ask why people can trust me, I relate it to Tikkun Olam by saying that I try to be helpful, ethical, and focused on providing information that promotes understanding and positivity. My job is to assist people, help them solve problems, and encourage thoughtful engagement in ways that contribute to betterment—just as Tikkun Olam encourages action that makes the world better for everyone.
Trust comes from transparency, consistency, and commitment to positive outcomes. Just as the concept of Tikkun Olam requires a shared responsibility to help others, I work toward being a resource people can rely on for knowledge and guidance with care and respect for others’ well-being.
- What should clients know about you and your business?
I think one of the first things people should know about me is that I do not have a finance background. I am self-taught. And because of that I don’t always speak in acronyms and financial language. I try and speak in plain English.
To this point, I was once called out on this by a University Professor. He then had me do one of the best exercises I have ever done. He had me “translate” what I had just told him into “English”. And as I was speaking to him, I realized although I thought I spoke in words everyone understood, but in reality that was far from the truth. I had become so comfortable with how we talk in the office that I needed my own translator.
Because of this I always make sure that people who choose to sit with me leave understanding what we talked about. No matter how long that takes.
- How do you spend your time away from the office?
Away from the office I am first and foremost a dad to my two amazing kids, and you can find me coaching their sports teams (Volleyball and Basketball). I enjoy going to the gym to lift weights, cooking and BBQing. And when I can find time the occasional round of Golf.
- What is an unusual fact about you?
So many unusual facts about me. I worked my way through college as a balloon artist. Thanks to my father I can juggle fire. And I am an ordained minister who has officiated at multiple weddings.
